Grenada Monumental Guide

The “Torres” walk (Alhambra)
Short description of the monument

This walk joins the “Partal” with the “Alhambra Alta” and the “Generalife”. It runs next to the wall and to the “Picos” Tower, getting its name from the shape of its merlons. At the bottom of this tower the “Arrabal” Gate is located, which communicated the Alhambra with the Generalife. The next tower is the “Cadí” and after this one two of the most beautiful towers of the Alhambra: the “Cautiva” and the “Infantas”. Both towers house in their interiors small palaces richly decorated, being the first tower the oldest of the two, from the period of “Yusuf I”, and the most interesting. These towers can only be visited on certain occasions, normally at the “month area” of the Alhambra.

From this walk we can see the “Ronda” way, which is a moat that surrounds the Alhambra, sometimes it runs underground and others it is on level ground. It served as a defence as well as a communication between the different sections of the fortress.
