The Oleander Walk of the Generalife

The Oleander Walk of the Generalife

At its far end, the Oleander Walk joins the Cypress Walk.

The Oleander Walk is a long path running along the top of the wall that separates the orchards, entirely covered by a vault of oleanders.

It was built in the mid-19th century as a romantic approach to the Generalife Palace. At the start of the path, coming from the Upper Gardens, stands one of the oldest known specimens of Moorish myrtle, one of the botanical wonders of the garden, whose genetic footprint is currently being studied. At the other end, the walk joins the Cypress Walk.
