The Romantic Lookout of the Generalife

The Romantic Lookout of the Generalife

The upper gallery has historicist twin windows with pointed arches.

At the top of the Water Stairway you reach the highest point of the Generalife. Because it is such a privileged vantage point, the estate's administrator, Jaime Traversa, built a neo-Gothic Romantic Lookout here in 1836. Very much in keeping with its time, it stands in real contrast with the rest of the Generalife and perhaps with the remains of what some authors believe was a Muslim oratory on this spot.
