The Albaicín quarter of Granada

The Albaicín quarter of Granada

History

The old Muslim quarter of Granada. The origin of modern Granada, under Iberian and then Roman rule, the Albaicín owes its appearance to the Arab period, when it became the residence of kings and the seat of the court, both under the Zirid emirate and, at times, during the Nasrid period. Listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1994, the whole quarter is a monument in itself.
