El Bañuelo, Arab baths

El Bañuelo, Arab baths

History

Ancient Arab baths built in the 11th century. They show the typical layout of this kind of building, similar to Roman baths, with three rooms in which the temperature rose progressively.

The vaults with skylights, here shaped as octagons and stars, are also characteristic. On the columns you can see Roman, Visigothic and Caliphal capitals. In the last room there are channels that carried hot water under the floor to heat the rooms.
